AOT’s new production on this satirical comedy about the corruption of capitalism and corporate greed lined up against people’s rights and the working class of America.
AOT’s production fused shadow puppetry and live music theater performance to tell this exuberant, funny, and zesty tale of our time.
Mináǧi kiŋ dowáŋ: a Zitkála-Šá Opera (2022)
Mináǧi kiŋ dowáŋ (My Spirit Sings in Dakota): a Zitkála-Šá Opera is a cinematic opera that tells the remarkable story of Zitkala-Ša, a Yankton Nakota woman. Through Dakota words and original music, this 30-minute film challenges and decolonizes the traditional boundaries of opera and shows the possibilities of Native storytelling.
